The LOVE Sculpture

Fredericksburg, Virginia

Virginia is for Lover's has been seen on many a bumper sticker or license plate. The Love sculptures have been springing up around Virginia, and it was finally time for Fredericksburg to have it's own. The sculpture pays tribute to the city of Frederickburg, the town that many of us call home. I am honored to have had my design chosen by a committe of local Artists, city employees, and members of the Fredericksburg Arts Commission.

Meaning behind the work:

L- Local culture. Architecture/Visual and Performing Arts
O-Olden Days. Historic Places/Local Parks
V- Voyage. Rappahannock River (or Local Rivers)/Train bridge
E- Eat. Local food, beverage, & agricultural community

The Love sculpture can be found in Hukamp Park in historic downtown Fredericksburg. It is slightly over six feet tall and 18 feet wide. The project was completed in five weeks, with installation help from Public Works and the Parks and Recreation department. I outsourced the creation of the bridge surrounding the V to Virginia Architectural Metals who did an outstanding job!
